Hi,
POP which stands for point of purchase is used by the marketers as a promotional tool, basically for converting the shallow and ambivalent buyers to sales. The POP media's are Standees, Kiosks, (Floorstickers,Trolley)-Mostly at Hypermarkets and Supermarkets...to name a few.
POD which is point of display is a strategy used by the distributors, depending on their size and popularity of their product to leverage the dealers or the retailers. This strategy is basically a part of Vertical Marketing Distribution where the manufacturer defines the terms for the displays of their product.

POP stands for points of parity. These are the attributes that make your product similar to other products.
POD stands for points of difference - ie the attributes that make your product unique.
