Business ethics is nothing but application of morals in a business environment

I came across an amazing para while reading articles on business ethics. It goes like :

A customer is the most important visitor on our premises, he is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.
Mahatma Gandhi

Why is business ethics used in business?

Because without ethics, the world would work by the law of the jungle, where medicines kill people instead of curing them. Imagine a doctor prescribing you a medicine so that your health worsens so that you may need to visit the doctor frequently which will fill his pockets.

Why learn it in management courses?

So that when you are taught to be ruthless and downsize or layoff your staff, you know the consequences of doing so.
