nuclear is very important for India. today the max. companies general requirement is electricity,it can the Indian gov. to solve the companies this general problem.
if we think that it can break the nuclear missile production,so for that we are not signing on CTBT. so there is not any problem

Nuclear Deal is in very much interest of the country. What all it provides is another SOURCE of energy. And in huge quantity, but still as per estimates it wont be able to meet our requirement in 2050. We wud still require to mak use of other forms of energy. It takes time to Produce Nuclear Energy. What US will giv us is Only the required raw material i.e Uranium and Technology assistance. But they dont want us to use the Uranium for making Nuclear Weapons.
Neither the Congress, Left Or BJP had any probs wid the deal. Its like a bargain, if someone (USA) is giving u something one wud always ask for a price higher as he can and viceversa. Only couple of points wer subject of argument, which cud hav been sorted out.
BUT the Left tried to Project itself as a BIG BOSS, ultimately falling on its face. Even if UPA was toppled, NDA wud hav gone ahead wid the deal, no question abt that. If u had followed the whole scene, the BJP opposed at a very late stage and only for the sake of it, just to confirm that they r a Opposition Party not wholeheartedly. That is why rather than anyone else they had most defections during the TRUST VOTE.
Coz we already had Inflation menace to tackle with and so noboby wanted ELECTIONS at that point of time, as that wud prove fatal.
And abv all the deal wud have been entered into only the Signatories wud hav changed say from Manmohan Singh to L K Advani.

First of all Nuclear deal for electricity is a hard bargain, output from Nuclear power plants will take a while to come seeing the intense precautionary measures and stringent norms to be met for setting up a plant. By the time substanial output comes from nuclear plants Thermal plants are need of the day, but nuclear deal will offer energy security in future. Wit large deposits of unexplored thorium in the country and the 3 stage nuclear program's successful implementation will ensure a better energy future for the country.
On political front UPA was keen to take credit of going ahead and finalisisng the deal with US. I assume all this was planned systematically, the Left distanced itself from Congress led UPA to avoid people confrontation on high infalation at the same time it ensured their political ally SP ensured the governemnt completes its tenure...
Hats off to these guys.....hope they use these ideas in putting India on growth track

hI aLL... the present Nuclear Deal is the only way to ensure uninterrupted supply of Energy to fuel our nation's growth. India has always been an energy starved country...most of the coal it has is low grade, is painstakingly poor in Petroleum and has not been blessed with generous hydel and nuclear resources to sustain its present rate of energy intensive energy growth. Some people may talk of Thorium, but lets be realistic, the Atomic Energy Commission of our country itself is of view that we are at the initial stages of Stage II of our so called Atomic Energy Programme in terms of reserach, means we are yet to develop a quality fast breeder reactor and only the prototype has been developed till now. So production of energy from thorium, which is the third stage of the Programme, is at least 30 years away. India cannot wait for that long in the rapidly changing global scenario to get developed. Industrial infrastructure is the need of the hour and meeting energy demands a key factor to it. Petroleum prices have spiked like never before, and the whole world, primarily countries like us which are heavily dependent on imports to meet petroleum demands, are bleeding their forex reserves profusely. In light of all these, nuclear deal becomes the need of the hour. there are pros and cons to it I admit, and would love to discuss them but not now as I am woefully short of time. Bye till we meet next.

very interesting query from jeyanthi sukumar reg. the possibility of intentional power cuts to justify the generation of nuke power!!! well not quite so its all about big kickbacks involved for the sale of inefficient outdated and highly expensive technology with meager benefits in the uncertain future... a baby of the military-industrial complex being thrown out from the usa ...hey this is going to be boforsII once the deal is unravelled ..

Yes we have huge Thorium reserves, and it will be used alongwith Uranium (which we lack) to produce the Nuclear Energy from the envisaged deal.
On its own Thorium is of no use, else India wud hav produced energy from it, u require Uranium n Thorium both to make the energy.

i think india is signing nuclear deal only to divert fuel (which is currently used in reactors) for bomb making....:SugarwareZ-064:

India is in the development stage and needs energy for smooth functioning of its industries...the current supply of electricity is way below the actual requirement...therefore it becoms extremely important to find various sources of energy and if nuclear energy can be used then instead of getting into political debates al the parties should agree for the deal...:tea:

nuclear deal is gud for Indian Power Sector...but with nuclear India shuld also hunt for alternative source of energy like Wind Power...
patola
September 6th, 2008, 01:13 PM
Even i say that India should explore the Alternative source of energy like solar, wind ..he policies of USA are not in favor of India...India will be in big trouble if we go ahead with it...
