yeah.. its absolutely correct.. the probability is quite high that the employee uses the organization's resources in an unethical manner.. so employer should have the right to monitor the same.. however, one important point to take care of is that the employee should be aware of any such monitoring practices bt the employer...

agreed. They sud do. In India personal usage of internet at workplace is quite high. Monitoring employees will not only save company's cost but also utilise human resources efffectively.

This is breach of privilage. If an employer don't want to make its employees use some internet resources it can ban by techincal means for all its employees or it can warn its employees not to use internet for non-business purposes. But monitoring all the emails is a intruding into the private affairs of the employees. Why should a company protrude its nose into employees' personal affairs? This will also be used by managers to gain some advantage. But my opiniion,I wud certainly ban the organisation doing such a kinda work. When ppl are completing their work for the company,I don't care what they are doing for rest of the time as long as it is not spoiling other's work and they are not viewing some obscene contents.

i agree with Deepak. electronic surveillance should not be there, if employer wants the employees not to use some stuff, they should block it but keeping an eye on what employee is doing on internet is wrong.

The employer has the right to monitor the internet usage by employees. But the currently there are lot of software available to restrict the usage of internet. It can be restricted be a very few websites, restrict the usage of employees.
