it may be justified provided it is in the favour of future employment and positive growth of the nation.

bringing down the legal age from 21 to 18 for boys will affect our nation badly in many ways .i do think that one must be matured enough to behave responsibly and become ideal citizen of country for chanelled growth of our country.i mean getting married isnt a easy decision of life to get it quickly.

it not at all a good move looking at the happiness index in our country.
it more like a political move to win the hearts of some minority from rural areas.

i don't think this shud be done as this will result into early marriages n then more population n also at an age of just 18 one cannot handle him selves how can they just take the responsibility of their wife n family i mean they need some time to stand up n settle with their career first n they think abt marriage n all ...............

Hmmm.. Even I agree that at this age a boy isnt mature enough to take up such a big responsibility.. and also he is dependent on his parents in most cases ...

India is a free country and it should be let to be one. I do not understand why the govt always has these things going on . When the govt feels that a person can vote at the age of 18 and choose a leader for the country then why another legal age. It's maybe because a lot amongst us that behaves like a bunch of brats. Their recklessness leads to a generalisation and all bear the brunt of it.

Also one more thing, lets think from other point of view...

Generally in India, it is believed that the bride should be younger than the groom, lets assume safely that bride should be younger 1 year, so this would mean, we are lowering the age limit for girls....

What say????

technically speaking girls matures faster then boys....n traditionaly girls finish 10+2 education by the age of 18..so get married...but nw a days girls are more ambitious than boys n go 4 further studies.....on other hand after doing 10+2 boys go 4 graduation dat till 21 n den for PG dat still 23..so boys age limit is 21...so as of nw its girls age whose legal age for marriage shud b increased to 21................wat say guys??????? n girls 22222222??????????

no the age shall not be brought down because a person at that age dont have the calibre of taking responsibility nor is he mentally prepared

well i think its the perception of a person, weather he/she agrees to marry at this age, are they comfortable or not... in some cases boys are nt as mature at this age, but again i have seen many guys who are well settled in their business & quite mature at this age...

It is a drastic down measure which the government is planning in bringing down the age for marriage for the boys from 21 to 18....the genration now is the a very fast one....the boys at that age are ina state where they are fully excited and in a stage where they are overwhelmed to do anything.marriage is a matter of responsibility and also committiment at this age the boys do not even know the meaning for these words..i dont think this govt plan is a supportable one.

It is a proven fact that the Girls mature at an early age compared to the guys. 21 is the correct age for a guy to get ready to take responsibilities. 18 years is still a kid to me.

Also at 18 the guy will not be ready to earn hence he cannot take care of the girl. I do not say that girl is dependent on the guy but at 18 even the girl cannot earn to support their family of 2.

NO, i dont think it's a good idea due to the following reasons:-
1) Due to the education system prevailing in the country(which is inclined towards producing white collar jobs), the age of getting well settled with a goood job is beyond 21(now a days).
2) we have overpopulation in India, so if the marriage age is reduced, then it can speed up the population growth rate.
3) 18 is a age when we have just crosses adoloscence, entering into the real world, and at this age we dont have much exposure to this outside practical world.
4) if a person is running a business then marriage at the age of 18 might make some sense for him, but for a working(job) person he might get into a job much after the age of 18, and even if he gets a job at 18, then the job would not e permanent.

I think bringing down the legal marriage age do not affect the urban population, bcoz they prefer to do marriages only after a well settled career. But rural population will be afftected bcoz they want to marriages early illegally , bcoz they do not want to wait for a long time to do their marriages legal , so after bringing down legal age to 18yrs some of them will wait for some year to do marriages legal...

Hi, even i agree that this age to marry will only increase population in rural areas, and at this age hardly anybody would like to take hell lot of responsibility..

so it is not good one

i don't think its a good idea to reduce the age from 21 to 18 because at the age of 18 no one is matured and responsible as they would be after 21..and at the age of 18 one is in just 12th standard man..they still have to be a graduate..

I completely dont agree to this, at this age boys do not attain to the age of maturity and its very much required to get married.
