Can India beat china ?

Of course it can. We have the resources, we have the intellectual capacity, we have the manpower and if you notice, some of the best of the brains in the world are Indians. The best of the innovations have come from India.

The question certainly isn't debatable. India can beat china.

But will it beat china? We don't know.

If we come out from the vicious loophole of power and politics, caste systems and quotas. If corruption is controlled and we adopt a broader view for the economy of things, we stand a fair chance.

Else, I have not seen a country where people fight because they want their name listed in a backward class. This happens only in India.

I THINK INDIA CAN REALLY COMPETE WITH CHINA AND INFACT OUTPERFORM IT

THE MAIN FUNDAMENTALS OF INDIA ARE VERY SOUND.BANKING AND FINANCIAL STRUCTURE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST AND INDIA IS NOT A COUNTRY GOING FOR VOLUME PRODUCTION OF CHEAP AND LESS QUALITATIVE STUFF

ALSO INDIA IS KNOWN FOR BRAINS AND MANAGEMENT EXPERTISE.TODAY THEY ARE AT THE FRONTRUNNERS IN MANY FIELDS OF MANAGEMENT

you have people like indra nooyi who are leading in such a foreign dominated field.they make us so proud.silicon valley has alot of indians

but the two main problems of india are corruption an population both of which can be brought down by general awareness and some legal laws i think its high time india makes a law like china because indias area is not as big as china

also the mba graduates should prefer to work in india so it grows rather than working hard for some other country

well i have some plans of making my contribution to this great Indian succes story by working for alternative fuels.i have discussed them properly in the fike in fuel prices thread

In general China is slightly better than India.
In terms of resources and capital they are definitely better than us,

Now in order to beat them,

1. We have to have a sound corporate governance and take enough measures that cases like satyam dont happen.

2. Our exports must be encouraged in new markets which china is slowly tapping due to US recession

3. Our FDI processes should be made more investment friendly.

4. Finally politics has to have a national interest in each and every action.

These measures will definitely make India a better competitor to China.

Hi All,
First of all , let me clear one thing. Whaatever China has done might b very impressive ,but, i would not appreciate. Because this is wht expected from each nd every country to have its own position in da world. The another thing i would like 2 say is that why we want 2 compete CHINA? Who da hell is China? We Indians have da capability to impress da world. People should think 2 b like us nd i dont think that we need 2 b like anyone. INSHALLAH a day will come when the whole world will say " we want our country 2 b liike INDIA". I think those intellectuals got wht i m talkin abt.

Yes India can and India will beat China..This can be because China's economy is completely based on manufacturing sector..If we look at the current scenario then because of the meltdown the demand for the products have been gone done and this has affected China's economy drastically..Their exports have gone down..India is a mixed economy..So meltdown has not really affected India very badly as it has affected to China,USA,UK..

no india cannot compete china
few reason in support
india literacy rate is 50-60% where as china's is 90%
indian export is minisical in front of china
indian gdp growth is lower to china and the rate at which indian population is growing will never solve all these problems

There was some statistics, in the near future china may face shortfall of labour and most countries may face short fall of young labours. And India is going to have large number of young people for many level of jobs allover the world.

Some point of time in the near future. India is going to control world labour market.

Obviously yes....

I just visited China for 15 days...there are no major differences between India and China in terms of work culture and ergonomics...

I found Chinese Govt is playing a vital role of catalyst in the nation's development...the rules, regulations and policies are fairly developed and implemented....Indian govt can learn a lot from China....

The days are not far when China will be left behind by the Indians...

India can of course beat China provided India is given sufficient time to compare with. I mean nobody can deny the fact that their Industrial revolution started twenty years before us and that is where they took advantage. Today India and China both are surging at almost equal rate. So just keep the fingers crossed, who know may be the time will come sooner than our expectation...:)

India's major problem is the political bureaucracy. Though China is also sitting on a political structure that can burst any day, but still, it is working for them. India needs to to something about it as soon as possible to compete with china.

One point in favor of India as compared to China is that we have a greater percentage of working age population. Also, it is projected that this percentage is going to increase in the near future. But China's percentage of working population is going to decrease in the future.

I personally don't feel that India can compete with China anytime soon. I have my own reasons to believe in this. Let me highlight a couple or more of them.

1) India liberalised its economy in 1991 and China did it after 1995, and that too not entirely as it is still reeling under communism. China became a very hardcore player and started undertaking aggressive strategies to attract the world towards it. India, on the other hand, just freed the economy and sat back. The laid back attitude of the industries and people in India added to the already existing lethargy.

2) Even under communism, China continued to grow at a very amazing speed whereas India enjoyed a steady growth rate. The bureaucracy and the political environment in India is what hampered the overall growth of India.

3) In China, people either do or die. In India, we have options of doing, enjoying, resting (more than necessary) etc etc..but we don't have the do or die attitude. Just take a look at our new 11th year plan for the economy and most of you will understand what I am saying. Did you know that we have made money amounting to almost Rs. 19000 Crores from Special Economic Zones (SEZ's), but have invested and lost more than Rs. 90,000 Crores in these SEZ's by giving them tax benefits and illogical leverages.

Once we get more strict and stringent with our policies and cut down the bureaucracy in India, we can "think" of at least arriving at the stage where China is right now. However, I don't see this happening anytime at least in the next 5 years!!!

Agriculture is supposed to be the backbone of the Indian Economy, but most people don’t know that the aim of the 11th five year plan(2007-2011) is to accelerate the agricultural growth to 4% of the entire GDP (Gross Domestic Product). Just 4%!! and the government still says that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian Economy. This plan also wants to a) provide primary education to at least 50% of the Indian population free of cost b) provide secondary education to at least 50% of the population at reduced rates c) develop and maintain important roads in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai etc d) provide clean water to at least 90% of the population etc. From this isn’t it quite evident that previous governments have not been able to provide even the basic amenities to Indians?

5) In India, we have only 40 vocational and technical areas in which we can get training. In China, people have access to more than 4000 vocational and technical courses!!!

6) India seems to borrow almost every ideology from China, except for communism. We borrowed the concepts of SEZ’s , proper infrastructure development , industrial licensing policy etc etc etc.. from …China!!

7) China in the past few years has become the world’s second largest economy after the United States. And where are we? Can anyone answer this?

Its amazing that many global organisations like Wal-Mart, Starbucks, Nokia etc arrived in China, even before India actually knew about these organisations! Hell, Wal-Mart and Starbucks have still not arrived in India!

at this moment, its impossible.......china has been expanding its strength continuously and secretly for past decade...we were better than them in only one thing, that's our naval strength.but it looks like china has taken over in navy also....
they have acquired naval base in Andaman sea, Pakistan also...its going to give us probe in future in case of any tussle between India and china..as they have covered us from all around.

answer of this question very much depends upon the performance of our new govt. As the India have a stable govt and the govt is lead by one of the best economist in the world, the growth is expected.
India also have a language advantage over the China, Indian population has a better knowledge of English as compared to the Chinese (they are improving but they will need more time to reach our level).
China has destroyed there market reputation by dumping there 3rd grade quality all over Asia for past few years.
China have a good financial n technological edge over us, but we are reaching there level.
The major hurdle in achieving this the awareness of our people. Every Indian should realize there responsibilities and work for the growth of the country then only we can reach lead the world.

India can defeat once the Govt administrative model changes, with current administrative & legislation ,Fake electorals are the main concerns india has to dealt with , once these areas are cleared in path india may defenetly win on it's course!

India degradation through political is very low the way media is forced to project as if it's very high! India is lagging due to the govt administrative officials and their corruptive policies ,negligence!

Politicians loot less than 7% of india's revenue with the help of govt Administratives, the Govt administration loots 86%....then u cvan imagine where india lags!

India has all the resources to compete with China but the problem with we INDIANS is tht we dont utilize these resources to the full extent. we keep on blaming politician tht thy are not doing anything, there is corruption all the place and WHAT CAN WE DO AS INDIVIDUAL. if we talk abt policies even in the world ranking both the country are on the top most position when it comes to bribes. bth the country in the 70th ranking when to comes to most friendly business countries. then where politics comes into pictures. the problem why china is moving forward becoz they take the initiative to move forward, but we indian we dont care for tht. we only care for ourself and nt for the countries progress. we are concern abt saving tax, making more profit and showing losses in business to the IT department.

Before comparing our country with china we first have to think whether we will take an initiative to move forward or we will keep on saying.

or lets take it this way, if today we start taking initiative for India progress and every hour 1 person start taking the intiative and and that one person makes atleast 3 people and those 3 people another 9 and so on. then within 5 years we would beat china and we do not have to wait for India's vision of Being and developed country by 2020.

THINK ABOUT IT CAN WE DO THIS????????????????????

lakshmirajaram
May 24th, 2009, 08:35 PM
Yes. China is leading mainly due to its mass production and competitive price. as the government itself protecting their people by stbale currency etc.,

but the scenario has chnaged now. indian products are also closely following chinese. that is the difference in nprice is narrowing down which means we are nearing chinese and will beat in a couple of years. but all is required is hard and smart work and government's support.

With best regards,

It is not about beating china but that will do the trick... We too have manpower but it is not organised and channelised in the right direction.
Organisation of manpower comes from learning and education which has to be done in india.

But there is also another way... If you can't beat them join them... This way the forces will be stronger to take on the world.

China if we see was never a competitor for India in any of the areas. India is much ahead of china as the goods or services we deliver are far more superior and excepted globally. The production of china is although is on massive scale but the quality that the deliver is not up to the mark. Also percentage of people in china understanding English is very less as their national language is mandarin.

India is making a mark in every sector whether it may be manufacturing , services or any of the other businesses. I feel it is not correct to say that India is competing with china......
