Hey team,

Was just listening to a professor raving about the field of HR and wondering are the HR people of India today capable of being CEOs of companies or are they still looked down upon as cost function?

I remember one of our prof's at welingkars explaining us the case of HUL (formerly known as HLL)

He was talking about how the past CEO's of HUL took it to great heights and yes one of the then CEO's he mentioned was a VP HR prior to his appointment.

Analysing further, every role that is played in an organization begins with super specialization and then grows to a more cross functional multi deparmental setup which ofcourse means that every CEO that there is to an organisation should be talented with its various functions and AIM at creating share holder value.

I hope this answers your dilemma :)

Yes, it has happened that an HR manager went on to become CEO. We had a case study *(Real time) where the HR manager became a CEO for his work................
