Mumbai emerges as highest tax paying city

The tax man has something to smile about - Direct Tax collections till the February 15 have registered a record 41 percent surge, coming in at over Rs 2 lakh crore.

Corporate Income Tax for the period has registered a 39 percent growth, and Personal Income Tax has grown 45 percent to over Rs 90,000 crore. Mumbai has emerged as the highest tax-paying city, with a 66 perecent rise in payments.

Self-assessment Tax has risen 63 percent, while Tax Deducted at Source has registered a 52 percent growth.

Where as i think it is responsiblity of every individual to pay tax and if Mumbai is
is emerging among the highest tax paying cities that should be motivational factor for other as well.
