PS: BOTH IS NOT AN OPTION SO...PLZ DO NOT SAY QUALITY AND QUANTITY BOTH IS NEEDED ...COZ I KNOW THATS THE RIGHT THING...BUT IN THESE 2 OPTIONS ...(QUALITY) & (QUANTITY) WHICH 1 WILL YOU CHOOSE????:SugarwareZ-064:

I think to be on the safer side its always best to stick with quality.
Now a days even the profs want the answer to be precise for them to go through and give answers.

Quality is what is required according to the International Standards, it is the Quality that matter the Most as its only the Good Quality of work or the task done can get you higher but in Our Country some lazy Profs who check the paper only go for Quantity as they are not concerned about the matter because they dont wish to invest their prestigeous time in reading through the Paper...So In India -Quantity 90% of the time

Definitely the quality of an answer determines the marks of a student.Think about tests like GRE or CAT where there is no room for you to write anyting.so there quality of your studies defnitely plays a big part.Even incase of Tests like GMAT,your quality plays a big part than your quantity. There is already a saying "KISS--Keep it short and Simple".

So nobody needs pages of stories. They need only few sentences of good stuff.

Mabey thats why students who get even above 70-75% also get an ATKT...
Its totally unpredictable....
Even if u have quality ...u still have chances to get a KT...and then revaluation is ...hell...A LONG PROCESS OF PAIN AND MISERY

friends since am living in India where the only thing matters is the quantity and the quality used in writing the quantity...... i know very well a lots and lots of professor of university who straight away says that they give number on the quantity and the quality in the quantity as they never read the answers.........
In U.P. Board the evaluator of the copies are not the faculty of the same subject.... so how can they judge the quality...???? they only see the quantity.... so as to check as many copies as they can and earn maximum money out of it...

The Opinion seems to be unanimous-Quality is King
I personally feel depending on the situation.

obviously the quality will surely fetch you marks, but the length should always depend upon the marks of the question.

there are possible ways to write the answer to the question.
so stick to the marks, and write accordingly

quality always is important but it also depends upon the checker also and his views

Quality of course... if you can convey the msg even using a single word why waste everybody's time. also management is about smartness which is better emulated by quality

It definetly depends on the persons institute which he is studing in some place quality is important where as in another case quantity depends important it depends on the institute which u r studing which defines what is important as per ur stndrs.

i think both quality and quantity is important to get higher marks as it distinguishes your papre 4m others(however dis is applicable only wen papers r sincerely checked by the profs)

it depends how the prof is checking the paper.... bt basically quality is required... even if u answer precisely and the answer is to the point marks has to be given... rather giving marks for cooking up stories

Quality is always best rather then quantity, but it depeds on the examiner the way he/she checks a paper some examiner don't read and some of them are just concerned about the quantity they are not bothered of the quality of answer.

I feel that students should read this entire debate , it will give a understanding of what is essential in their exams

i feel its the quantity..........

as the standard of the board moderators is just deteriorating day by day n no one is ready to become a moderator due to low pay bad working conditions like in a huge room there s only 1-2 fans among the 20 moderators checking papers n also they have to come to the university to check papers which is very inconvenient for the moderators n thts d rsn thy jsut chk the paper with a min n i dont think so tht within a min one can go thru the whole paper n giv marks on d basis of quality so i guess its d quantity tht matters ..............

n its obvious that quantity doesn't mean tht if u dont know anything u right songs in ur paper it means at least relating to the subject........

I m a little bit agree with ankit.........

Its true current situation between university and moderators...........

But Quantity matters more only if professor is tired, and not willing to read the whole answers or if he is in the abd mood.........

But if any genuine n well-educated, strict moderator will read ur answer and will give u marks.......

Thats why u should have quality in answers as mods also will be happy when they will check ur papers. Answers shud be precise n correct also........

It's a sad thing 2 know dat r education system depends merely on the quantity of the answers...n thus, whoever mugs up the textbook ends up scoring well invariably...however,the quality of the answers is totally neglected by most of the moderators n profs....in my opinion, quality alone shud b the criterion 4 scoring marks...n r education system will continue 2 b feeble unless v start lookin' at the practicalities of the answers n encourage students 2 'learn' rather than just 'study'.

I feell Quantity gets higher weightage than quality... And more than anything the paper presenatation should be very good.. try making diagrams and present in the same way you could do it on MS Powerpoint.. It will surely help!!

me me quickly pur my point across.. to be frank. i dont think most of the prof check your paper carefully.. i have seen them correcting and we also hear lots of it in the newspapers.. marks are given on the basis of lenght and presentation.. all you have to do is write ur answers point-wise with good prentation. u r bound to get good marks...

Melroy,

I'm a new member & just looking through the posted threads.
This is really a good question.

I will not say both are important (Quality & Quantity).
You have to scan the business environment (Situation).
Both the model could be a successful one.

For eg. As quoted by Mr. Sunil Mittal (Founder & CEO - Airtel):
" Its the speed that matter, quality & rest will follow".
And if you study at various top performing company you will find that they were the first to launch product & hence able to capture large market share (Quantity). Yes when market gets mature or there is more competition then the only way out is QUALITY (differentiation).

As far as Prof. is concerned, this again will depend on what he likes (quality or quantity) - off course if you will know this if you have attended his lectures ;-).
Talking about Indian education system, here you have to be more inclined towards quantity, because for quantity you don't have to think just reproduce at least till your school level.

As far as management education is considered, I believe your professor looks for more original ideas (Quality), rather than reproducing (Quantity) what you have already read in books.

Kind regards

SS

most of the time it depends upon the profs.....how he wants to evaluate u.i hav seen tht in CBSE board u get marks as per the quality of ur answer but in most of state exams, they evaluate u on th basis of quantity...
