Project in business ethics

hi there!

OK let me take a deep breath first cuz i'm a bit panicky right now. i desparately need a topic in business ethics for my MBA thesis - one of my friends suggested something along the lines of the US sarbanes-oxley act focusing on the business ethics part of the process and how Asian companies are now trying to follow that standard. 2 questions:1) is this a good topic?
2) how do i go about collecting first hand info on this?
Could someone reply ASAP?

The sarbanes-oxley act would be under the gamut of accounting and reporting practices in business. In India, we have adopted the GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting standards and principles) system which is similar in many ways to sarbanes.

Thanks so much Kartik for your reply. I actually had a meeting with my project supervisor and got the hint that they are interested in marketing - i think that's why they kept blowing me off when i suggested a topic in business ethics; come on i though the idea was good =(. So, i have decided to switch to marketing.

Do you have any topics? 1 idea was marketing of B-schools in the cureent competitive market but i have a feeling it might be too sensitive to get info on a school other than mine. I want to do something that also takes into consideration the social side. I understand that it's better to come up with a topic on your own but I'm really clueless that's why i need help. Once I get a topic I know I'll be able to research it, but it's the topic that's so difficult! Basically the format is: I need a problem, first-hand data (collection) and management implications + recommendations; 50-100 pages and I have 6 months to complete the whole thing. Plus I'm not in India. Any ideas are greatly appreciated + sorry for the huge post.
