Can we make beggary a crime?

I'm starting this topic not to punish the beggars but a small desire to make our grandchildren to see the word "begging" only in dictionary.

I'm seeing a lot of beggars along the road.Itz very pathetic to see them, but at the same time I get angry on the Govt talking about the 9% growth but nt able to stop begging.There was a employement guarantee scheme giving employeement to the people for atleast 100 days/yr.I'm nt sure how effective they are.


The beggars should also be blamed.I have read some mails about a beggar who is drawing a salary more than a s/w employee's monthly income(nt sure abt the authenticity f the mail).All I can say is that there is a job for everyone in the country,better than begging.Some of the beggars are nt willing to find it.So its the laziness on the part of the beggars.

So making beggary a crime will only curtail this exercise.It will make them to find a job,atleast search one.
Begging to abolish beggary.

some times beggers earn good money out of begging . eventhough the schemes of the government are not good enough. making it a crime will force them to search a job.

in tamil nadu they arrest beggers ... ones a year rarely.. and put them in rehabilation centre

insted they can create jobs .. petty jobs like in hotels and other places..

i have seen beggers earning good enough to drink all day ..

begging should be made a crime..........

a good topic deepak,,but i think beggary is by birth..i do agree there r som instances where beggars beg out of their own wish,,but in many cases like children they hv to earn their livelihood on their own,,so circumstances force them to beg,,children without parents dnt hv n e source of income,,so they hv to beg to fill their stomach ,therefore i feel it should'nt b considered as a crime..

begging @ any level big or small is an issue of social concern, however its said as misery and pain can not be removed of world , so cannot this social evil. And making the matter worse people who make it a business is actually commiting a crime, need is to seggregate the two and take necessary actions.

wid d state of skilled unemployed n under-employed..... d unskilled and uneducated ppl stand no chance to get employment..... if d govt has to make begging a crime.... d beggars shud also b educated as to wat they can do instead of begging.... if they can make a better living out of the alternate solution why wud they even resort to begging??
the key to d problem is to remove their ignorance n reach out to them.... most of them wnt even know if begging has been proclaimed as a crime... our govt will only end up paying for their daily needs if they are put behind bars for the so called "CRIME" committed by them

Dis brings light 2 a very important issue!! Its true beggars hv started 2 take dis as a profession & der r cases where many hv become rich enuf 2 own a car too!thgh its very difficult 2 take sucha extreme action... der shud b some measure 2 reduce da rate atleast!! N even though none of dis will actually ever be implemented it defintely is a need 4 a better tomo!

It is absolutely right to say we are the Criminals..I'm sure if we do not encourage them so much,there would be not be so many beggars around us..There are even small kids who are into this business. I'm not sure how many of you here would remember those train beggars.They are young boys capable of working!!!!But the problem here is they have become accustomed to the luxury of earning money with no much efforts.Such kids should be taken to the Juvenile Homes and must be offered Good Education.People are not born bad!!!It is the society that is responsible for their Transformation!!! let us stop giving alms to Beggars!!!Probably then we can make the dream of Deepak become true!!!

I don't think Beggary can made as crime,

But for some it is by Birth, Other begg because they do not want to work and goverment is also doing very little that is waht i can see, even if they are doing something then people are not aware of the same.

beggary should be crime on all over the world. it is not fair that i work for 14 hours a day and in the evening a begger comes to me and ask for money. it drives me crazy....
