hi kartik, why dn't you share ur experience and let us know do u prepare yourself?
waiting for ur reply;)

It was all last minute study. 24 hours prior to the exam. Albeit I DO NOT recommend you follow the same route.

I had taken interview of a uni topper and he shared some interesting insights. You can read em at CRACK TYBMS SEM 5 (http://www.managementparadise.com/forums/t8738-crack-tybms-sem-5-.html)

the best time for the studies is the morning time i.e frm 4.am to 8am. in this time theres no disturbance atall evn ur minds fresh.and in this time wat u study gets into mind easily rather than studying for late nights.

n bfore to start to study meditate for some time n offer ur pryers to god n thn start to study.

all the best guys

and the best way to learn is to only understand instead of memorizing the whole answer

Its really intresting topic.....
hope i'll learn much from this thread....
From my side, i tink there's no one good method...but considering the fact that i spend about 6 -8 hours in the classroom, i prefer studying in the classroom itself....its logical, saves time!,

and yes revise after the class!

I sit down, re-read chapters that are essential to brush up and then do A LOT of problems. I'm a hands on learner and actually have to dissect and work through the problems to learn (and to be competent in an exam)

Staying focused
Determine what kind method suits you best.
Keep a small note book in the pocket and refer to it every 20 minutes for 2 minutes.
Study in bursts of 20 minute.
If visual is your developed sense, then write it up and paste on the wall
If audio is your prefered sense then talk loud to your self, repeat, record your notes on your mp3 player and listen it over and over again.
Study smart by anticipating what is going to be asked. Study in groups and be the teacher of your group. You will learn more from teaching than listening.
Good luck to all

well guys, i think the strategy varies with each individual's behaviourial pattern. I, for once, start with studying the chapter in a rough draft, then a serious study with analysis, and finally, the notes part with me jotting only the imp points in brief ! n the best part I feel, is to chill, n never take too much tensions, coz ur tensions will nt help u do well, bt there s mr probability of them making u suffer ! al the best, dudes n dames !

There have been some toppers who called me up and thanked me for the book. I think you should consider purchasing that when its still available.

frankly speaking studying if done in an interesting manner will not be called as a burden........

some steps that i follow personally in my study are......

1. 1st n foremost do not ever think u don't like to study n r forcefully studying just for d sake of it many ppl tend to do this mistake n spoil their interest in studies from d start itself, this will itself discourage u in d start n u wont feel like studying
2. always do d simple things first which will make u feel much better n also u will gain confidence in urself as ur some part of d portion is done.
3. if u study tough questions in d start n if u get frustrated while studying such Q in d start itself then this will spoil ur mood completely.
4. wen u studying try n c to it that there is complete silence at ur study place this will help u concentrate more properly.
5. always try to undstnd any ans u studying rather than byhearting. i m not so sure abt this trick coz with me it has happens many a times that wen i byheart a ans n go in exam i tend to forget but wen i undstnd any ans in exam i don't have that much time to recollect n make my own ans n write down. so its upto u how u feel u can do it either by undstandin or byhearting. (it also depends upon ur grasping power)
6. some ans which have points in them try making codes n encode it with some nice interesting sentence or word this will help u remember d ans n its points.
7. some similar ans can be compared together to undstnd it better n not getting confused with similar Q & A
8. people say u shud study from d beginning but d truth is that no one ever starts studying from d begging itself even i don't do though i know its a better way to study so its upto u whether to reduce ur burden or keep it until end.
9. many people like to study in d morning time n many like in d night both ways r ok as far as u r comfortable with it.
10. one thing that i have always felt is that in d last minute i get a feeling of revising some particular ans n wen i revise that i later realize that the same ans were asked in d paper, so i mean if u feel something abt any particular ans then u shud go with that feeling coz sometimes such six senses just work very well.....
11. b4 starting to study i alwaz make a question bank for my own satisfaction sake so tht i can keep a chk on how much m done with n also do marking on tht Q bank as wch ans r done properly wch needs a revision , wch r not yet touched also n so on......
12. i always learn my ans with a pattern ....
for eg: concepts i byheart, D/B i alwaz make codes, ANS with points (many points) again make codes in connection with d chapter, long ans i try n undstnd it mostly, etc....
13. its always preferred to do revisions wen u do a revision at least twice it helps u get more confidence in u n also u r more aware that u can score upto how much level.

right now i jus remember these point tht i take care of while studying if i remember any will post them later .....
hope u guys get some help from my way of studying if ya then it would be very nice.

While its encouraged to study well in advance, I was accustomed to a one week prior preparation. I used to create a schedule such that every day i used to finish with one subject regardless of the number of study hours or the kind of sleep I had to sacrifice.

So if it was 7 subjects I had to prepare for, I would start 7 days before the exam.

This was during my graduation. I have stopped studying for * exams * since. I feel it is more about the knowledge and insight we gain than the mug up and vomit sessions that we do.

How to improve concentration in studies
Concentrate!! Enjoy your studies!! Excel in exams!!

How not to study?

Do you remember yourself reading sentences after sentences of your books, but without actually concentrating on it? That is called a casual reading. A casual reading through the books doesn't help much. That is because; the concepts just pass by the mind, without being able to associate themselves with your understanding, or your memory. But the time that you spend in such casual reading never comes back. Moreover, it is boring. Study without concentration is an utter waste of time and energy. Avoid it.

The secret of concentration

There is no big tricks to develop concentration. If you want to improve your concentration in studies, you just need to enjoy what you read. There are books teaching you meditation, etc that claim to improve your concentration. I have tried a few of them, but personally I feel that the claims are over exaggerated by the authors. I discovered a simple technique that simply works wonder for me. I benefited immensely from the technique, and now I want you to benefit from the secret. The secret to concentration is being able to develop interest in the subject.

How to develop interest in the subject?

Simply stating, information is not at all interesting. But most curriculum books just provide information. Even intellectual concepts are presented as if they are information. That is the reason why curricular books are so often dreaded by students. But information becomes interesting when we discover the underlying concepts in them. So if you want to make your study hours interesting, try to discover the concepts yourself. Do not just believe what is said in the book. Let whatever you have to learn, be learnt not just as information, but as concepts that YOU have re-discovered.

Study tips
1. Make separate self study note book for each subject.
2. When you sit to study a subject, do not forget to be ready with yourself study notes and pens(at least 2 colors).
3. With each line you read from the book, make questions, as if you are going to make a tough question paper in that subject. This will force you to concentrate on the subjects.
4. Note down the questions in one color and the answers in another. But write the answers from your understanding, in your own words. Don’t copy paste from book.
5. The tougher the questions you have made, the better you have concentrated. And the longer you are going to remember what you have learnt.
6. The most important thing is this: REVISE your notes. This would hardly take 5 minutes for every hour you have spent in making the question and answers. If you miss to revise, then the extra effort that you have put to make the notes will simply be wasted. But every revision will pay back at least 10 times of what you have invested.
7. Solve examples and exercise questions. You will be surprised to see that you are able to solve most of them.
Revision tips
1. Jolt down what all you want to revise in a particular study session.
2. Assign the time that you can afford to spend on each topic of revision.
3. Open yourself study notes. But don’t just read through all that you have written, else your mind will start wondering, day dreaming, etc.
4. Read only the questions. Hide the answers. Try to recall the answer you have written. Check your memory.
5. If you are able to think some new questions and answers in your mind, add them to your notes.
When to revise?
1. Every day night, before sleep, revise all that you have noted down in your notes.
2. Every weekend, revise all that you have noted down during the week.
3. Before the exam, all that is needed for the exam.
If you have genuinely followed up to this, congratulations!!! You have noted down your success, and before the exam, when everyone else will be cramming, you are revising your success as a fun game.
