Harry Potter success is another good marketing strategy.Giving the intial hype about the book, creating SMS poll around the characters like Harry Potter & Lord Voldermort makes it talk of the town. The obvious talk about the book makes the people esp children to buy the book.Moreover,in-house marketing like Harry Potter T-shirts and the books shops joining the fray by facsimile of characters obsivously turns the attention of the people. This is in-turn boosted by online shopping where people reserve the book months before the release. The good timing of the releasing the sequels after the book makes the movie a run-away success.
Moreover, the story about the magical wizards are not new to children. We have a lot of such fictional stories available in the market.
So I wud say Harry Potter is another successful marketing strategy.

well, as they say, even the best marketing strategies cant sell your product if it is not good. I have read all 7 Harry Potter books, and believe that all books are very well written. The USP of the books is not the magic, but the underlying human emotions of the characters. Hogwards can be replaced by any school in UK(or for that matter India). The story is more about freindship, courage and emotions. However sticking to the topic, I believe Harry Potter is indeed a good book, and rather than marketing strategies selling the book, it is the other way around. :)

Yeah...
difinetly it is very good marketing strategy. I have seen, read and heard about that kind of novels and movies. But the way they marketed this series is amazing.I feel initially the enthusiasm created by writer in the first two versiona. The movie series has expanded the popularity which ultimately helped the writer to extend until seven versions.
