Setting up of a new business requires business sense and street smart knowledge. BMS course seems to be designed to equip you with the employability aspect in mind. You though have an overview of the basic functions required to run a business. IMHO no education can teach you how to run a business, it can only give you pointers and theories which have worked for others in the past. You will only know what works for you after you get your hands dirtied :)

Definately, who else can answer this better than our Kartik??
What Kartik mentioned above is absolutely true..
But I think along with BMS even MBA is necessary (which most of you might not agree)... But I personally felt that the combination of both the knowledge is much needed while doing business... Of course no one going to teach you business...
If you are smart enough and a good daring personal then soon we will see another Dhirubhai Ambani... :)
If you have mind, daring, dreams & (internal) power to make your dreams come true... then you dont need BMS or/and MBA...
Its you and not BMS (or any education) who makes a successful Enterpreneur...

neither neccessary nor sufficient. there are perfect good businessmen who never saw the inside of a classroom, let alone a b-school classroom.
capital- now that is neccessary to start a business.

No i don't think that B.M.S has any connection with a person starting a business or not it's good for service people to showoff their degree while running for jobs..:SugarwareZ-180:

I think BMS is alright for setting up a new business. i think if you have good business idea and clear vision you can start business for that its not must you should be an MBA or so on. So many big entrepreneurs in our country are normal graduates. The thing which really matters in setting up a business is idea and innovation. your business idea must be innovative, sound and unique so that you have good scope of success in market.Market is full of uncertainties and risks so you must have a good and solid business plan.
Your brain is much bigger player in business than you education.
