AIDS is not as serious as it's make out 2 b.more people die out of malaria, heart attack n even if in accidents.but AIDS can spread rapidly which should b checked by awareness.

People are busy fighting birflu now. Moreover, they don't want to take a disease like AIDS intentionally. Its all due to the lack of awareness.

I guess the major issue behind not taking it seriously, is because of conservatism. Society like India is still to much extent plagued by this. Talking about such issues is considered a taboo, even now the parents do not talk about it openly to their children, we do not have sex education in schools....So a proper awareness about such issue is a must and the conservatism about these issues should be dispelled

Who takes it lightly? the people who r affected by it mostly lead a terrible life because people around them boycott them...
LEt people affected by AIDS lead a normal life. I think government is making good efforts to spread awareness about it and now its upon people to take preventions.

Yes, the HEROS project by star channel, campaigns by richard gere, etc have finally started sowing the seeds of awareness among the general public about aids.
Prevention is better than Cure !!

it is more of unwillingness than unawareness, because anything which is even remotely connected with sex would not be discussed. this is a major issue, which is not good. for we need to make people more and more willing to incorporate sex education.

hmm... as for being taken lightly... people probably dont get get just how dangerous AIDS can be......
but i guess nowadays the awareness problem is being addressed to a large extent...
the only thing is... even when people talk about it... they talk about it awkwardly...or indifferently.. i think they ought to put more feeling into it... so as to get the message across effectively... i mean... the tv ads n all r pretty ok... but people shud reduce the awkward kinda feel when they tell their children... or students.. or evn friends for thet matter

according to me its abt lack of awareness since ppl r not dat free to talk on this topic, & the person who is suffering frm this are nt cumng up n telling the sideeffects of the same. so need much awareness for same

in rural areas it is quite possible dat peple are unaware bout aids. but in urban areas also huge number of people have aids. i think this is coz they dont care bout it at the initial stage. dats they have sex wid multiple partners. people shud be aware dat tthey shud not have sex wid multiple partners. atleast they shud use protection if they hav relations wid multiple partners.

I guess the major issue behind not taking it seriously, is because of conservatism... ppl is India are comprehensive when it comes to talking to their children about sex or aids... we are living in the 21st century and everyone knows about sex... Parents should be the first to talk about safety and make their children understand its importance.... this is how the awareness wil increase and wil considerabily reduce AIDS...

The reason of lack of awareness regarding AIDS is now not legible as we see a lot of awareness being created using all media sources, and the endorsements done by top personalities from various fields. But now it is upto the individuals themselves to properly and correctly utilize the awareness to protect themselves from being infected. And another point of emphasis is the open n free discussion on these so-called "social taboo" topics among all the people, be it youngsters, elders and anyone from the community.

i think its because of lack of awareness mainly in the rural areas

Seems more intentional in the sense that the belief is if one does not think about an evil it will go away.
The evil obviously does not go away.
The will to tackel the problem upfront is lacking.
