yes i think she truely deserves where she is today as till now no women was given this opportunity to take the lead as far as this post was concerned and now when india has advanced so much then i think womens definetly deserve the big posts and they can handle it efficiently well.it was juss that they were not given the opportunity to take the lead they were always underestimated.but now its high time that we all should wake up to this issue and support womensenhancement.

Prathiba patil is a 72-year-old former Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha and Maharashtra Minister has been Governor of Rajasthan for nearly three years.
The opposition is mainly frm Jayalalitha's party who commented' it was a joke played on th nation' by Mrs Sonia gandhi.
Jayalalitha's party wants APJ Kalam to contest for th term of president fer th 2nd time.
and also another reason fer th oppositon is- Many people havent heard Prathiba patil's name before and were bewildered to hear her name.

no,she doesn't deserves to be a president.she can hardly speak or write on her own. we should have a young intellectual person to represent our country on world stage.

gender should really not matter in selecting a candidate for the post of the president. a person's achievements should matter. just like there is retirement age for people working the private sector there should be retirement age even for politicians. most of them can barely walk but still are keen to run the nation.

no she doesnt deserve to be. If ppl dont know she is the governer of Rajasthan which recently had their own communal riots, she cudn't put her foot down on the situation moreover the president must be a person of international repute, APJ was a gr8 scientist put until 3 weeks back i never even knew who she was.
need i say more

I dont agree completely with you.
I agree there shouldnt be any gender bias for selection.
But that alone cant becum the only criteria for a high office like president.
