Is Rajnikanth the real boss?
Bollywood sitcom pushes a media person
Minister pushed a women
These were headlines flashing on most of the news channels during the weekends.Do you think that they don't have anyother news to chase.

Hey Deepak,
nice topic u have pulled off.... I would agree that media content has been surely deteriorating these days... Mostly the newspapers are either filled with murders, dacoity, rapes, etc or with stardom masala... Very rarely u find stuff which encourages people, but mostly the stuff which makes u feel that the world is getting reduced to dust and the fact is that such news increases their TRP but it is a self-centered benefit and nothing else.
I feel that the media should bury such news in between the papers and the front page should be made with more creative and generally-benefitting news.
The media is a very powerful tool to populate ideas amongst the masses and hence, whatever they publish or show on cinema, should be thought of from the public domain as well.

I wud say a we shud impose a law to the media channels to have compulsory a dose of educational content in their everyday agenda. There are channels from Doordarshan who still teach thru channels. But hardly there are sponsers/viewers.That way we can drag the mad media from the house of Bollywood & BCCI and ask them to start concentrate on smeting useful.

I absolutely agree that media content has deteriorated these days. The most respected names in Paper Media today are filled with content which I personally feel cannot be viewed in your drawing room with your family. A burning example is the Page3 (Bombay Times). It was the first to start and now we have almost each one having atleast a dedicated page for this type of content. This is surely being done to raise readership/subscriptions and the ultimate profit motive.
I feel that the media should act more responsibly.
Media is a powerful tool which should be used in a very able manner with the "public at large" in mind.

1 of the reasons which I feel the deterioration in media content is need for popularity...every channel is hungry for being famous...thts y u;ll find most of the news channels (cnt name them) hv started showing programmes which has "horror and thriller stuff" this is just to instill the curiosity of viewers..

thanx a lot fr saying whhat i wantd to say from past many months!! hey am really wrried about the trend taht these media channels are following. i jus want to add smthing:
there was a gud meaningful debate that was going on same topic on a news channel when everyone was asking the reason to showcase abhishek shaadi or rakhi sawant on tv 24x 7 without nay damn good reason.when suddenly the media retorted back as " we show all this crap becauz u all want to see it!!dn't you guys ( every age grp) interested inknowing wats going on in ur favorite artist life?" and to my amusement there was a big silence..that showed the media is showing wat we want to watch. then smone asked y 24x7 the media person laughed that its the same show taht is repeated, so no fault of their own.after that they were brave enough to conclude that "media iwll show wat they found highly paying"its upto you to watch it or not!!"
i felt so disgusting that all the people sitting there were silent. didn't anyone dare to say taht am least bothered wat hrithik roshan or say amitabh bachan do offscreen... they are inviduals should have rights to live their lives calmly privately..
so i guess we are more responsible fr this ill act rather than media.. the moment we will start watching gud stuff..they will be quiker than wind to change!!!
take care

Well deteriorating is actually a beeter word it is goin to a level of disgusting.....i dont know how do they manage to get this crap from...everyday they will show a wife beating an husband...some people bashing up some sadhus on charges of molestaion...n if they dotn find such strange issues..they always can spend hours on discussing on sachin or the bachans...
Well imposing restriction always hamper creativity so this will definately not be the proper solution..only they themselves can change
well i accept with anu that they show these news only because there is a demand...but people can watch anything if they want to waste their time so they can use this time for displaying something better telling the complete life history of sachin everytime he scores a century.

ya i agree with the statement..no doubt content being shwon by media, especially electronic media is deteriorating day by day...seems like the gud old days of doordarshan news were better...just 2 bulletins of news..no crap...just plain news in the simplest manner possible,
the reasons are there with us....we like this crap..we see this crap...we love this watch crap...and we feel delighted by the fact that we r part of all this crap....media has nw become a circus...were everyone has a time slot, and in that time audience's attention need to be captured...the day we stop replying to the weirdest questions via sms, this all will come to an halt
P.S : ahmermbalbale mentioned in his post (see quote), wife beating husbandis it like that....big time

coming back to this thread,,,,i remember the day whn it was raining heavily,,,,in such situation the media instead of giving news regarding the slums(where it rains heavily),,trains and the entire mumbai city ,they started the headlines wid amitabh bachans house,,(outside d gate)how it was filled wid water...watching this i felt so annoyed,,i mean a news channel must give d news regarding the entire city,,mostly in those areas which r really in flood...
this is our media..it has totally lost its content..no valuable news...

yes it is deteriorating but its still serving the major class of society because it is ultimately audience who decides which content is good and bad ...it shows where the society is driving towards and it is really a much more subjective issue...its upto you to select the content you want to see and throw the rubbish out of the game

throw the rubbish out of the game
Yes, but it becomes very irritating when you got to select the less rubbish from totally rubbish and live with it as NEWS.

Id agree 2 dis! To a great extent v c many news channels makin a small issue a huge news n fashin it over n over again!! The news regardin any celeb is just blown outta proportion at times!! The glamour seems 2 b a hot topic 4 various news channels & there r also some very disappointin repetitive n not so imp news been given 2 much weightage i thnk there shud b a line drawn 2 it smetimes! The real imp n news of concern 2 da society on a serious note shudnt get over shadowed!

I m coming back to this thread to say something wat i usually find...
again it depends on channels as to wat news they r showing...
for example..ndtv is 1 channel which has variety of programmes showing excellent stuff...be it gadget guru, just books, debates, cooking shows, health shows, smart shopping, sale guru etc etc...u just name it and they have it..shows catering to different age categories..and when compared this channel to others u can make out...
so by this just want to say that it depends on channel and its viewers wat they want to watch..

News gets worse day by day.Media tells us what we want to hear and not what the actual news is.If the -ve aspect will give them more popularity then they focus on it.The "Behind the scenes" which violates peoples private lives is becomming more popular, a tool for informing large masses about good understading of various aspects and news is becomming senseless. Same things again and again. The smallest dumbest senseless thing is made into big TIme NeWs now dayz.Thank god for certain channels that shows only business related news.Cause media content is getting very pathetic as days go by

hi..i really like the topic..i think the media which obviously is inclusive of the entertainment channels as wel shows things which bring out the negative aspects of life..they are mostly depressing and demoralising. for example eah n every show talks abt infidelity but none talks of how one can b happy together..similarly the news channels shows the existing greed amog the current politic scenario...however none of the channels encourage the youth to enter the political breed or make them enthusiastic to change it...the media is obv the most powerful form which can influence anyone very easily

It is the excessive commercialisation of Media, which forces it to show what public enjoys, without seeing the reality. That is why now a days we can see the over stretching of some 'masaledar topics'. Even you can see laughter challenge, reality shows, bhavishyawani etc but rarely find discussion on serious political or social issues.

Media is next to crap!! Most of these NEWS channels have turned into SOAP channels. They have changed their genre completely.
Its really irritating to see channels showing entertainment news more than anything else.
BEWARE and STAY AWAY from these News channels:
HEADLINES TODAY, STAR NEWS, AAJ TAK and ZEE NEWS
News Channels worth watching:
TIMES NOW and NDTV 24x7
they are really good channels who literally show NEWS related to the latest happenings and not exaggerated stuff.
Channels like STAR NEWS or AAJ TAK constantly show stuffs like:
Rakhi Sawant and boyfriend Abhishek,
Khali,
Ghost stories,
Abhi - Ash
etc etc etc.
For 24 hrs they will show the same piece of crap. And more annoyingly they exaggerate the headlines.
Indian Media is deteriorating heavily.

Hi,
When Kareena's shoes become BREAKING news material for some mews channels, it should be clear that indecency has crept in our media and it has reached the nadir of morality. However certain points are essential to be raised here. I think all of us should realise that television shows are part of show-biz business and their main agenda is to enhance their TRP ratings. India ,as we all know, is a diverse land comprising of people of various class, culture, taste and upbringing. So it is highly likely for even two brothers to have different view-points and preferences. Media channels show what we wish for- for example a guy in his late teens is more interested in sports and entertainment news, a guy in his late 50's is more into aesthetics and cultural news, some guys derives pleasure by watching our politicians act like caricatures on national stage, and the list is endless. So What should media do? It tries to cater to each and everyone's need and shows something of every possible thing. The problem is with the intense competition among various news channels, it is now a business of innovation, entertainment and being adaptive to changing needs of people rather than being a simple source of news. So instead of blaming media, I would like us to change our attitude. Afterall, media is a reflection of society, not any virtual world's propagator.

whatever it is it is due to demand supply economics. they cant help themselves to remain in top in the competitive sceanrio.even if some channel try to show good news just like doordarshan can anybody tell me who watches it? so guys its all our fault. unless the mindset of our society changes one cant do anything to it.

Yes,definitely....the media news has deteriorated recently upto a very large extent....n dis is owing 2 the fact dat TRPs hv bcum top priority nowadays n thus, news channels showcase, many a times, things which r of no importance wrapped in an exaggerative manner....Glamour news,controversies,gossips,hook-ups seem 2 b getting the 1st slot side-lining some of the most important of news at times....The same goes 4 newspapers n magazines....'Real' material is fast disappearing from the media arena.

Yes, its gettin worse by the minute.
All kind off stuff but news r shown on Tv. Even daily soaps n comedy shows r flashed n sensationaloised ther.
Can u imagine they show Raju Srivastav Jokes alongwith breaking the statements in the scrolling bar. What they feel u n me dont understand Hindi Jokes? Same is wid the Newspapers. One day they get up n say SRK N BIG B at war. after few days how SRK helped Junior B, n how BIG B n SRK got along well.
Only coz ppl lik to believe it somewhat they r doin so.

I feel dat might be deteriorating bt we need to consider the kind of information flow dat is occuring nowadays in the wake of bringing fresh news and views to the consumers. So keeping the bad impacts at bay, we need to consider the positive side as well.

this is a rat race to get eyeballs..
whosoever win this race can demand huge sum from advertisers..
this is turned out to be a major business nowadays.. but imagine if these news channels were not there.. and we people would be still looking at doordarshan for all the more important updates about the world in half hour slot
this crazyness of media will stop if educated people like us stop watching then, i am sure there are many news channels out there.. where they dont show all this non sense..
we should definitely be watching those channels..
