We've heard what it does to your environment and the changing atmospheric pressures but does it affect you ...

Well hear this - Chronic hunger may be "the defining human tragedy of this century," as climate change causes growing seasons to shift, crops to fail,
and storms and droughts to ravage fields, an advocacy group said.
It says that as the weather changes, millions of people in areas suffering food scarcity will have to give up traditional crops, possibly leading to social upheavals such as mass migrations and possible conflict over water resources.

Rich countries in temperate climate zones, such as northern Europe and parts of the United States, will benefit from warmer weather and more rainfall, but far more people in hotter, poorer countries will face more erratic and expensive food supplies, said the British-based nonprofit group.

With malaria cases in Kolkata rising alarming, a West Bengal minister named global warming as one of the major reasons.

Health Minister Surya Kanto Mishra, who is a doctor himself, said global warming was one of the reasons for the rising cases of malaria in the city.

Even in cooler climes like Kalimpong in Darjeeling district, the disease has struck with a vengeance all because the snowfall has stopped there due to the warming of the climate, he said.

So isn't it HAPPENING? What are we gonna do now?

Global Warming is indeed becoming a major worry and cause of concern these days. I hope everyone does their own bit to bring the levels down.

yes, global warming can be arrested only when our politician can think to bring some revolutionary changes in the country. What happens actually the effect of global warming is so slow that nobody cares to grow trees from their own efforts. Some serious measures should be done to control the global warming otherwise it would be only our future generation who is going to face these problems.

I think more importance should be given to our Environment Ministry... The government should do more about creating awareness about global warming and its after-effects... the country at large should know how grave and grim this problem that we're currently facing is.

Global warming is the bigest prblem .It harm ur nature .this problem can be solved by only joint efforts, not by putting work on other shoulder. We all have to do work jointly to solve this. first step should be start from own houses. firstly plant tree at ur nearst .

Yes indeed what you said is true, but when it comes to doing the basic things we all are taking a back step. Muncipality has made it compulsory to dig water soaking pits so as to give muncipal drinking water connections. But how many of us are really following the rules? Unless and until we create awareness of the importance of these basic duties, it is hard to control the issue....

Global warming is no doubt a serious problem which i see would be more severe issue than terrorism that we have today.
People dont realise the issue now. We belong to BPL families and have no concern about how lavishly we waste so many things around us.
Its human nature and we all need to change our attitude.
Together we can change the world by emmitting less CO2, preventing deforrestation and controlling waste.
Together we can make a difference to create a different world. Well its not a speech , i have personally realised about this issue and have started working against it. My humble request to all MPites to create awareness of Global Warming amongst others. Atleast if we individually change, it will benifit to us all together.

We need to fight back following causes of Global Warming (Source : global warming website) - Effects of global warming | Causes of Global Warming (http://www.globalwarming.org.in/)
1) The emission of green house gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide etc into the atmosphere.
The major source of carbon dioxide is the power plants. These power plants emit large amounts of carbon dioxide produced from burning of fossil fuels for the purpose of electricity generation. About twenty percent of carbon dioxide emitted in the atmosphere comes from burning of gasoline in the engines of the vehicles. This is true for most of the developed countries.
2) Buildings, both commercial and residential represent a larger source of global warming pollution than cars and trucks.
Building of these structures require a lot of fuel to be burnt which emits a large amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Methane is more than 20 times as effectual as CO2 at entrapping heat in the atmosphere. The main sources of nitrous oxide include nylon and nitric acid production, cars with catalytic converters, the use of fertilizers in agriculture and the burning of organic matter.
3)Another cause of global warming is deforestation that is caused by cutting and burning of forests for the purpose of residence and industrialization.

The greatest cause of concern for the entire world is global warming.India too needs to take initiative in this regard. It is hearty to note that India has laid down a vision to generate by 2020 at least 1000mw of power. This will be done mostly done through photovoltaic panels.
