Our Union HRD Minister Mr. Kabil Sibal has proposed to scrap the class 10 board exams and eventually class 12 exams too. There will be grade system and a common entrace test like the GRE for admissions into the college.
This will definitely reduce the burden on students but on the flip side students will not be properly evaluated, there will be a problem for allocation of students as per the availability of seats in the college. How many entrance exams will a student give...for engineering, mba, bms...and now even for 12th exams....
What do you think.....will this move be beneficial to students in the long run??

Hello every one, In my openion we must not phase out examinations but at the same time we must not rely on examination pattern which promote mugging up the entire book. The tests should be inclined toward application of known facts. whatever is written in books will always remain there, its more important to find out the quanlity of knowledge a student collected in his subconscious mind. At the same time this can't be implemented for all the sections of education. So a more balanced education system is required.

The move to reduce burden of students is a good initiative..
The level of studies has gone up and is causing a burden to all students...
The grade system too will enable students to get into good colleges..
Also Mr. Radhakrishnan, Maharashtra education Minister has put forward a proposal to Maharahstra State Board of Education to enable failed students to re-appear again rather than wait for the October exams.
This way they would get the results earlier so that they wouldn't lose a year...

This is not correct decision, because it will make students lazy and make them to not concentrate on education, already the teachers are lazy. if we bring this rule, only 12th teachers has to face issues

this will have an adverse effect on both sides.... the lazy ones will becum more lazy ....and the studious ppl will have to stuggle more:SugarwareZ-086:

I guess this a good move in removing the education from "Cram-for-the-exam" to learning. But we have a long way to go and this is just the first step.

Hey people...in my opinion class 10 exams must not be scrapped coz these exams only help us know our capability n can choose our careers accordingly......so i m against scrapping of class 10th exams

well i think its not an accurate decision...instead the pattern should be amended by puttin in more practical test and online examz which does not need mugging up..coz ssc is the base for hsc...

Its good decision all the way
if we look at today dynamically changing world which push students to go at end of their limits to gain marks to beat competition at the age of 15 we can see serious effects which can devastate life of student if they got on wrong marks.
It will be welcome step by my view

It won't make any difference in the life of kids with parents having great-dreams-of-what-they-couldn't-do in life. If not board after 10 (in fact, 10+) years of studies it might be school internals to push and prod them.
Also, in the absence of any major common evaluation criteria it would definitely affect the level of studies - not exactly in private schools, but in those govt. schools of far flung areas where sighting teacher is a rarity - earlier teachers had come to schools to complete syllabus for 10th class, but now they can evade this thing.
But yes , for a lot of lives for whole 10th class was a major-meaningless-barrier to achieve there dreams - to get driving-license/enroll into army or all other jobs where metrication was a minimum qualification - it would definitely a boon.

Its not a good idea in my opinion. I think it is important as it helps prepare a student for examinations of a similar nature in the future.

This is truly a good approach. Grading students performance based on an international accepted grade system will help to land up with good jobs/collges where GPA is required. Nomore worries on how to get transcripts to apply abroad.
