Academic qualification has been the mantra for those who aspire to learn through systematic way to grow and develop their life and career.
But there is always another way i.e. having street knowledge. Having Street knowledge has always bewildered many, as it comes from knowing the secrets, the tricks and trades of the game, the trade secrets, which helps in making it big in this world. There are a number of personalities who dont have the qualification required but they have the knowledge they require to excel and get what they want.
Do you beleive this?

In a business organization, one needs both, qualified professionals are required for a sustained growth rate of the company, while the streetsmart ones to foresee the shortcomings of the processes in terms of the market impetus and forecasting etc.

actually the thing to be noted is that there are established techniques to measure the level of academic knowledge, but none what so ever for the street-smartness level measurement.
while considering an employee for a job, most empoyers look into the academic qualification, because of this factor.

There is no substitute for education, but practical utilization is also equally important- it has to be a mélange of two, to be successful.

Both..
Academic qualification combined with real time experience, will be great option..
even all those street-business can become more professional if imparted with education

Anything....whatever works for you. Probably a combination of both. Academic-qualification gives you a formal knowledge - all that stuff which could take probably a long-long time if everything is learnt through street. On the other hand street-knowledge means a touch with reality.

In my pt. of view, both have their own improtance depeneding on type of quality of work a consumer requires.
e.g. to get a car repaired one has to option to go to a company, as well as to a road side mechanic, both have their own features.
From a Company, one is getting experience of staff in handling, plus spares of that particular make and presumably quality product but at a higher cos
But from a road side mechanic one is getting services at a lower cost , but sometimes one has to compromise on quality and other factors.

i think that academic qualifications need to be aligned with street knowledge to gain some hands on experience . We need to understand the implementation part of the theories we learn from the books.

though academic qualification is very important to have a good knowledge about the nuances of the world, at the end of the day its the experience that matters.

Academic qualification cant be replaced with the street knowledge...because academic knowledge show the way to undrstand the things, situation.. and the modus operendi of how.
street knowledge is based on person to person and it differ in views.... so it can't be reliable
