Simple rules to follow & HOW to post !!
Welcome to Management Paradise. Please follow the following pictorial instructions to ease your browsing through MP forums.


Step 1: How to register on MP Forums


Type www.managementparadise.com in ur address bar and then click on "Register"









Subsequently, you will be asked to enter your date of birth and then you will be shown the rules and regulations. Just check the box below it.






Next you will be taken to page where you would have to enter all the requisite details, as shown below.





The referrer field indicates from which username you heard of MP forums. If u know the username, then write it down as shown, or else leave it blank.

Finally, click on "Complete Registration".

Upon successful completion of ur registration process, you shall receive a message from VBulletin, as shown.





Since we require to confirm your email, before you can use MP forums, an activation mail, with a link, will be sent at the email address which you have specified during your registration.

So login to your inbox and click on the link in the email you would have received from Management Paradise.

p.s. If you haven't received any email as yet, either check your junk/spam mails folder or wait for some time till you receive the email.

Upon clicking that link you would have activated your MP account.

How to use MP Forums

How to use MP forums


Upon logging in to MP forums, you can see a variety of links. Towards your right side, is the list of recent threads in which new posts have been added.






MP has various sections like:

Announcements:
This section is meant for posting announcements for all the MP users, any news which will be related to all the MPites.

General Talks:
This section is for you. You can discuss anything in general here.

The Big Fight:
Welcome to the arena! Race ur brains, practice ur GD skills here with fellow members. Dekhe kis mein kitna hai dam ;)

Campus Talk:
Talk all about ur B-school, the latest, the happening... anything and everything.

International MBA:
A zone for all the MBA aspirants who wish to pursue MBA abroad. Share ur ideas, important information related to MBA, gather and post study material.

Job Offers:
A portal for all the job seekers. Share the latest job openings here and post ur resume. Upload/Download placement papers.

College Fests/Workshops:
Know about a college festival going on ? Want to inform everyone about some workshop or seminar ?? Post it in THIS SECTION !!

Project Hub:
A section dedicated to help you with projects. Download and upload projects, post your requests in the appropriate section, discuss case studies, get and give help to other members.

Banking and Insurance Section:

Company Profiles & News !!
Information of well known companies, their background, mergers, acquisitions, etc can be found in this section.

Participate in contests, quizzes and community games. It is a fun zone, where u can learn and have fun and make friends.

Stock Markets Tips & Gyan !!
All you wanted to know about the stock markets.. All technical details, what is derivatives, futures options, commodities, etc.

Please ensure to post in the correct section and hence browse MP thoroughly before posting. MP has zero tolerance for spammers. So help others and get help !!

Users would get infraction every time they would post in incorrect sections, post messages not meaningful and not contributing to the pre-existing discussion (like one liners) or spam the forum.

We take adequate measures to warn the users enough, however consistent spammers will be removed from the forum. This policy is in keeping with the interest of our members.

It would be a good idea to start with the "Introduce Yourself !!" section. You can create a new thread and post your introduction.

Please remember that you will need atleast 1 post to be able to download any attachments from MP forums


KINDLY BROWSE THE FORUM NICELY AND THINK WELL BEFORE POSTING.

DO NOT MERELY POST "THANKS". USE THE 'THANKS BUTTON' FOR THAT PURPOSE.

How to create a new thread

As shown in the picture below, click on new thread and then add a suitable title relevant to the topic.




The image below shows you how to make a new thread.





1) You can choose the appropriate fonts, colours and text sizes
by highlighting the text and choosing the required font/size/colour.

2) The next button is where you can insert 'smiley' :smile:

Smiley are small animated pictures which convey messages.

3) The next icon with a "pin" symbol is meant for adding attachments.

4) The next two buttons (last two) are meant for undoing and re-doing the changes you have made.

5) In the 2nd line, the b, i, u buttons are respectively, BOLD, ITALICS and UNDERLINE.

6) The next 3 buttons are meant to orient ur text. Highlight the text you wish to orient and choose between left-align, centre-align and right-align.

7) The next 2 buttons are meant for numbering for ur text. You can either add bullets or numbers to it.

8) The next 2 buttons are meant for increasing and decreasing the indentation of ur text.

The 1st button increases it while the 2nd button decreases it
.

9) The button with the "chain" symbol is meant for adding a link. In case u wish to add a hyperlink (text pointing to some link), select the text and then click the button. A dialogue box pops open and u can enter the link there.

The next button is meant for removing the link to plain text.

10) In case you wish to insert an email link, you can use the next button.

11) The button with the coloured image is meant for adding an image link. The MP server will directly load the image from the given link.

Please note that u can add a maximum of 4 images per post.

12) The last 4 buttons are meant for wrapping a text in QUOTE, CODE, HTML and PHP.

All the external file links from file hosting servers like Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc should be wrapped within CODE

Select the text u wish to wrap and then click CODE (# symbol)

13) The 1st button in the first line with A written on it, is used to remove all the changes you have made or remove all the pre-existing format the text is in and convert it into simple plain text.
Eg. if u copy a page from a web page, then select the text and click the button. The text will be formed into its native state.



In case you wish to add more smiley images, click on the more button as indicated and select the smiley you wish to insert. You can add a maximum of 4 images per post.






The icon buttons indicate the image which will be displayed next to ur thread title and also in the recent threads column.

You can click on submit thread to post the thread or click on preview to get a preview of your thread before submitting.

Miscellaneous Options
:


Show ur signature - By default this option is checked and will show your signature. If u uncheck it, the forum will not display your signature.

Disable smiley in text - If u check this option, no smilies will be displayed.


Thread subscription:

This option allows u to be informed as and when someone posts on ur thread through email.

If u select, 'Do not subscribe' no subscription will be available.

If u select, 'No email notification' u will be subscribed to the thread but no email will be sent to u. U could see a list of the subscribed threads in the control panel.

If u select 'instant email notification', an email will be sent to u informing u that ur thread has received a reply.

If u select, 'daily email notification', an email will be sent u informing u who all have posted on ur thread, throughout the day.

If u select, 'weekly email notifcation', the email will be sent to u weekly.


Post a poll:


Polls help u to gather opinion from other community members. In case u wish to add a poll, check on 'Post a poll'. You can give a number (<10) corresponding to the number of choices u wish to keep in ur poll and then click on 'submit thread' to take u to the poll area. You will see the following page.





the options shown in the page are self explanatory.


Thread Management:


In case u wish to close the thread (so that no one else posts on it), upon creation, check on 'Close this thread after you submit this message'

In case u wish to stick the thread, click on 'Stick this thread after you submit this message'. Sticking the thread means to keep the thread fixed on the top of all the other threads.

Inside a Post

Inside a post, on the left side, you can see the following:
  1. Your username
  2. Your current title
  3. Your status - Online / Offline
  4. Link to your profile
  5. Number of thanks you have given
  6. Number of thanks you have received
  7. Your current rating
  8. Your date of joining
  9. Other information depending on how you have customized your profile.
At the bottom left, you could see the links to various instant messengers, viz. Yahoo, Hotmail, ICQ, etc. If some user has provided his/her id, through the profile, then the same will be visible here.

On the top right of the post, you could see the following image.

The Direct Link to the Post, gives to the link to the particular post, which can be used to indicate to that post anywhere on the forum, or guide other users to that post, via the link.


#2 indicates REPORT POST

This feature allows you to report some post to the administrators and the moderators, in case you find it a spam post, or an abusive post, or somewhere, where you feel moderator action is compulsory.
PLEASE NOTE -

DO NOT USE THIS FEATURE TO ASK FOR HELP FOR A PROJECT OR TO TALK ON SOME GENERAL ISSUE. THE FEATURE SHOULD BE USED ONLY FOR REPORTING AN ERRONEOUS POST.

#3 shows the THANKS BUTTON


It is provided to show your appreciation for some user's post, in case you feel that the content is good. Click on the "Thanks" button and you user name will be displayed.

PLEASE NOTE -

DO NOT MAKE A POST EXPLICITLY TO "THANK" A USER
.

USE THE "THANKS BUTTON" FOR THE SAME. MAKING A POST TO CONVEY THANKS, WILL BE CONSIDERED AS SPAMMING AND THE SAME WILL BE REMOVED BY THE MODERATORS.



#4 shows the QUOTE BUTTON


You can reply to a post by click this button. The contents of the post will be added as quotes in your reply.


#5 shows the QUICK REPLY BUTTON


The quote button will take some time since it loads another page for you to reply. However, people on slower connections, can use the 'quick reply' button and they would be taken to the bottom of the page. In case, you wish to quote the contents of the post to which you're replying, then check the box 'Quote message in reply?'


#6 shows the MULTI-QUOTE this message option

In case you wish to quote the contents of more than 1 post in your reply, click on all the multi-quote buttons of all the posts from which you want to add. The buttons will be highlighted in red. Finally, click on quote and all the contents of the selected posts will be shown in quotes.

How to attach a file?

To attach a file, click on <Quote> button (or edit your post in case you have already posted and then <Go Advanced> )

Towards the end of the page, you will see <Manage Attachments> as shown below

Clicking on it will open a pop-up window as shown below

Click on <browse> to select the file you wish to upload. After selecting all the files, one-by-one (max. 5 in one go), click on <UPLOAD> as shown. Finally, the files will be uploaded. Repeat this process, to upload more files.

Once you're done, close the pop-up window and save your post.


Please ensure to add sufficient description to the files you add, to enable the other users to understand what content you've uploaded.

How to search the forum


Please ensure to <search> the forum before making a request or posting a new thread to find related threads to your query. It is a fast means to resolve your query and saves from the redundancy of threads.


In order to search the forum, click on the <SEARCH> button of the right end side of the toolbar on the top of a page, as shown

Clicking on it will bring a pop-down menu as shown.

Option #1 <Find New Posts> In order to find the newly replied/created posts in the forum, select this option.

Option #2 <Find Today's Posts> In order to find all the posts made today, select this option.

Option #3 <Advanced Search> In order to make a search in the forum, select advanced search.

<Advanced Search> gives you a lot of options to refine your search to give you accurate results.

Enter the keyword with which you want to search. You can choose <Search Entire Posts> (if you want to search in the content of the posts) or <Search Titles Only> (if you wish to search only the 'thread titles')


On the Right Side, you have the option of refining your search, by searching posts/threads made be a particular user. So if you know the exact username, keep the box checked, or else, uncheck it before searching.


The <Search Options> gives you more criteria to refine your search based on the number of replies, chronological order, et al. You could use your custom-made search to refine your search and get clearer and more accurate results by changing these criteria.


<Show Results as> gives you the option to show the search result either as a list of posts or threads.


<Search in Forum(s)> This option can be used to define the parts of the forum in which you want to search. So in case, you know the thread you're looking for resides only in a particular section, select that section (say preparation resources) and the search will be carried out only in that section (and also in its sub-sections, if you keep the option of searching in the child forums)

Finally hit <Search Now> or <Reset Fields> to clear the entered data.


p.s. In case, you made some custom selections in the search page and wish the same to be available everytime you search, save your selections by clicking on <Save Search Preferences> and then <Go>
