  • TVS Tyres is a part of the TVS Group, a large and diversified business group with varied interests and a turnover of over USD 1.6 billion and 25,000 employees.

  • TVS Tyres is the leading two-wheeler tyre manufacturer in India, rolling out 7 million tyres annually. It has 2050 dealers and 20 warehouses in India.

  • TVS Tyres is an ISO - 9001 and ISO - 14001 certified company. It also practises Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Techniques.

  • The company recently won the TPM Excellence Award.

  • With a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, TVS Tyres caters to the domestic market as well as exports special and off road tyres to USA, Europe, Africa, South America, Australia and South East Asia.

  • It is a large manufacturer of Industrial Pneumatic Tyres, Farm and Implement Tyres, Skid Steer Tyres, Multipurpose Tyres and Vintage Tyres.

  • The company posted a turnover of Rs. 230.33 crores in the year 2003- 04.

  • As far as the Public Relations for the company goes, last year TVS Tyres had sponsored an expedition for 'Out There Adventurers', a Delhi-based team of adventurers that was successfully accomplished on August 2nd 2004.

  • The expedition traversed the four highest passes in the world in a span of 24 hours is expected to be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and the Limca Book of Records.

  • TVS Tyres, a leading player in the replacement segment designed special tyres for the expedition to enable the adventurers to undertake the tough and rugged roads.

  • This event reinforced TVS Tyres slogan ‘Tested for Life‘ and has facilitated the company to test the quality of its tyres in a real life environment at one of the most inhospitable and grueling terrains in the world.

  • Currently TVS Tyres has embarked on a nationwide road show.

  • It all started when TVS Tyres asked India Relations to come up PR strategy which would have a long-term impact in promoting their tyres and also which could be implemented throughout the country.

  • The objective of TVS Tyres was to capture the rural markets. It provided India Relations with a budget of 20,00,000, which is quite low according to their standards.

  • India Relations came up with idea of a road show. This road show started in Chennai and last week it crossed Ahmedabad.

  • What they did was that they took a truck, dismantled it and constructed a stage on the truck where they could display various products.

  • This truck goes to cities and small towns and stops at locations, which are major hangouts, basically where there is a lot of crowd.

  • During these stops various fun quizzes are held and T-shirts, caps etc are given away as prizes. This is basically a brand building exercise so that the brand name is firmly embedded in the consumer's mind.

  • The main aim of the road show is not that the products are sold but that product is promoted through word of mouth.
