1. Ryan’s stock of goods is worth $ 9462, which is 15 % more than Harland’s, and 15 % less than Lambert’s. What is the value of stock carried by Harland and Lambert respectively?

2. An electrical contractor purchases a certain amount of wire, 10 % of which was stolen. After using 85 % of the remainder, he had 47m and 25 cm of wire left. How much wire did he purchase?

3. The population of two parts of a town i.e. the upper and the lower parts of a town were equal. After the former had fallen 20 per cent, the total number of inhabitants was 39390. What was the population of each part at first?

4. A fraction in reduced form is such that when it is squared and then the numerator is reduced by 100/3 % and the denominator is reduced by 20%, its result is twice the original fraction. The sum of the numerator and the denominator is :-

for the fourth one ..
what u need to do is
assume the fraction in reduced form as a/b . now according to question { a^2 - 1/3 X a^2 } / {b^2 - 1/5 X b^2} = 2a/b.

solve it ,u'll get a/b=12/5
answer is -> 12+5 =17
 
Here are some more tricky question for my Cat friends..

Q.1A dealer decides to sell his goods at Cost Price but still gains 25%. How many grams does he give instead of a kg?

1) 800 gms


2) 50 gms


3) 850 gms


4) None of these

Q.2 A milk vendor sells milk at Cost Price but still gains 20%. Find the ratio of milk and water in every litre that he sells.

Q.3 Mr. Ram purchases an article at a discount of 20%, sells it at 60 Rs more than its marked priced and thus gained 50%. Find the Marked Price of the article
