steps to open an existing document.

To open an existing document :
(a) click on file menu.
(b) choose open .
(c) click on file name you want to open in file menu dialog box.
(d) click on open button.
 
How to open an existing document in MS Word

First Process - First you need to open MS Word 2007 > After opening MS Word 2007 click Office Button (located extremely top of the left corner) > click Open > Browse your desired file > Click Open

Second Process - Press Ctrl + O on the keyboard > Browse your desired file > Click Open

Third Process - Locate the place where your file is located and then either double on it or right click on it and then select Open.
