Geoinformatics, also known as Geographic Information Technology and Geographic Information Science (GIS) is an advanced technology which aims at solving the problems of various fields like geography, geosciences and engineering and their related branches.

The industries and organizations that require spatial data depend heavily on the Geoinformatics industry for gaining, analyzing and developing the data obtained through the data signals. Geoinformatics is an advanced branch of Geo-Science that deals with spatial information in detail. It entails study of structure, qualification and classification, how to use the acquired information, how to store and process it, present it and every other factor that is necessary for putting spatial data to the best of use.

Spatial information acquired is presented primarily through mainly maps and software developed especially for presentation. Thanks to features like Google Earth, masses have now started getting a better understanding and scope of Geoinformatics.

Geospatial analysis and modeling, wired and wireless networking technologies, developing and advancing geospatial advances etc. are all combined together in Geoinformatics.
Geoinformatics has the following branches:
Cartography
Geodesy
Global Navigation Satellite Systems

Admissions 2013-2015 SIIB-Course Details-MBA In Agri business

Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) was established in 1992 as an autonomous Institute. Today Symbiosis Institute of International Business is a constituent of Symbiosis International University and is one of the highly acclaimed business schools in the country. It has been recognized as a B- School that combines an excellent academic foundation with a strong leadership perspective. In an increasingly globalised world, SIIB is ahead of the curve. The pioneering work in commencing focused MBA programs in International Business (1992), Agri-business Management (2004), and Energy & Environment (2009) has been lauded by industry. This foresight has proved very valuable for organizations that seek global managers in diverse functional areas. SIIB therefore has a strong track record of excellent placements.
Here is a preview of our MBA – Agri Business course

India ranks second worldwide in farm output. Agriculture and allied sectors like forestry and fishing accounted for 15.7% of the GDP in 2009–10. Agriculture continues to be the mainstay of the Indian economy. Food is the crowning need of mankind and much emphasis is laid on commercializing agricultural production. Hence, adequate production and even distribution of food has lately become a high priority global concern.
Agriculture has long been seen as a sector with tremendous potential in India. In the last few years the sector has seen an unprecedented gain with several government and private sector initiatives. This, coupled with changing global norms such as the WTO rulings and increased global competitiveness, invites a tremendous need for professional courses in Agribusiness Management, and makes it one of the most challenging and exciting sectors to be in, either as a professional or as an entrepreneur. The MBA-Agribusiness program is thus a response to this growing need for professionals, who can contribute to, and engineer, the agribusiness revolution.
At SIIB the program broadly covers marketing, (emphasis on rural marketing and retail management) finance, (emphasis on micro finance, commodity trading and lending and risk management) supply chain management, (logistics in retail) and taxation. It also details all the relevant and applicable fields of Agriculture and WTO, Agri-export-import and agricultural finance. Agri-business explores production, marketing and trading of products related to agriculture and critical management issues such as financing and technical assistance, preparation of products for exports, overseas marketing issues and government policy.
The PG program touches upon areas such as export and import, co-operatives, rural banking, agricultural projects, insurance, logistics, land management, water management and irrigation, and sustainable energy. Advanced Market Research projects at the Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council (IOPEAC), Kisan Melas and corporate interactions have always been an integral part of the course.
Furthermore, at SIIB, a student pursuing an MBA in agriculture possesses a high level of decision making skills, and can go out confidently into the demanding and dynamic world of Agri Business Management.
