Re: An Open Letter to Rajdeep Sardesai - December 3rd, 2008

Even i feel that CNN IBN tried very hard to sensationalise the entire incident where hundreds of people where taken hostage, making the life of its own journalists, as well as that of the police personnel very difficult. Watching all this I felt the channel was trying to play with the emotions of the people and play with them psychologically. Yes as the previous posters pointed out, instead of trying to bring about a sense of calm in the minds of viewers, what it really did was created a sense of panic and defencelessness for its viewers, which is think was totally unethical. On the other hand I felt the news presenters as well as teh jouralists at NDTV trying to really calm people down and were telecasting about the possible solutions in a level headed manner. As the Head of NDTV Pranoy Roy's program that asked the right questions to the politicians and the people at large was commendable. (I do not belong to NDTV or any other news channel) its just a personal observation that I made while watchin these two news channels with regard to the mumbai crisis.
