Hi Guys,

Good Topic to Debate upon

I am working in a MNC for the past three and half years and subsequently have taken up Executive MBA just to cope up with the everchanging changes.
Coming on to the debate I personally feel MBA becomes more meaninngful if u are at some point of time, in your life you are exposed to the corporate working culture.

Revisit your school and college days when we never knew the relevance of what we were learning.

BSchools are slowly changing there approach from "Theoritical" to "Case Base" just to introduce the students to the real life steps taken by companies to manage change and crisis or both.

It does not take much to understand the content if you were a part of a change or a crisis management team.

To sum it up you learn faster and remember longer when you can see, touch and feel a thing or when have experienced a situation.

Work Experiance is work experiance,

no matter before or after graduate.
What matter is skills which you learn from and exposer to the corporate world.

It is a greate added advantage to MBA.

I had also done the same thing after my graduate i have taken 1.5 years work experiance and then join MBA and belive me dear its all that i have learn during my work experiance.

I was thinking about doing the MBA as a fresher, but from the moment I started to work I think I need some time to gather experience etc. and than use it to study particular subjects which I will find interesting.

even i agree that exec mba is better than ft mba because after workex you can actually implement the theories into practice.you can reason it out much better way

i totally agree with you guys MBA is a degree to get promoted to the manangement level from the sub ordinate level. so b4 reaching the management level one must understand whts going on at the grass root level. one must be street smart. hence, as per me a good work experience is important b4 a MBA degree

i am doing my mba with experience and i believe it is better because you can find practical applications in your work for the subjects that you learned in class

actually it just depends upon the person who wants to do mba as in if he/she is frustrated n wanna take a break from studies then will go in for a job but if u wanna continue n finish it once n for all then one may go in for mba first by the way it also depends upon u getting admission until u get admission into an mba institution one cannot decide whether to go in for job or mba ..........

Hi,

I am Pankaj Chhibber completing my MBA in Dual Specialisation (Mktg and Systems) from IMT Ghaziabad.

I am Ex-indian Air Force Personnel with about 6 Yrs experience in civil Industry.

In my opinion one should have experience of minimum 2 yrs prior to undertaking any MBA Course. Exposure to industry makes it easier to understand the concepts thoruoghly.

On the contrary, a fresher without any exposure to Industry Culture would not gain much during course period. Yes, He/She can mug-up theories through efforts and clear the exam.

My Suggestion : Go get experience for minimum 2 Yrs in the field wherein you are planning to undertake MBA.

Have good day and bright future:SugarwareZ-167:

My advice ....Get the MBA as soon as possible....

Just one warning..As a fresher ..assess your strengths ..aim high ....

..look at the results..If you achieve your target..Congrats!!!...

..If not..do another assesment ...ask yourself why???...

ask yourself whether you still believe that you have it in you to achieve that original target or if you need to revise that....

..it is at this time that you might go in for some work experience....

..and take another shot at the original/revised target...

Sorry if that sounds confusing...!!!

Regards

what i belive is one should gather some work ex first since it helps to geta better job once u r done wid ur mba.....also it gives u enough knowledge about business and u are able to relate more wid what u r leaning in college...........

at the ned its ur decision and vatious other factors which affect ur decion bt in my opinion first get some knowledge abt work.......

work ex definitely. The quality of discussion and interaction is automatically raised in a class when ppl can relate the theoretical knowledge to the practical world.

Its only in india (i'm guessing) that one is allowed to persue an MBA without work ex. mostly it is mandatory in other countries barring exceptional academic excellence.
We tend to think MBA as a must-have degree and aim to get it pronto but it is really more of a means to give you a new direction or give your career that extra boost.

i agree, min. 2 yrs of exp. shud ne made mandatory for MBA

Hi, i am an MBA graduate, i did MBA after working for an year.

What i feel is their should be mandatory rule that people should have worked at least for 3 years before joining MBA, and people who teaches also should have an industry exposure for min of 7 years.

I feel it comes down to the basic nature of a person. if he is a kind of person who aspires for knowledge all the while he can do well anytime whether fresher or with work-ex. but if he is not of that kind no point if u hav a work-ex or fresher.

could anyone tell me why not fresher.... is he not able to understand the concepts?

Nothing harm if a fresher comes but its always better having hands-on work experience before doing MBA .. Some concepts can be easily understood.. At times, even a fresher can come up with new ideas and thoughts whenever a discussion arises.. So generally MBA institutes (esp foreign) wish to have a class of diversified profiles..
