There has never been a better time to get a job in the cannabis industry. The number of cannabis jobs seems to be growing month on month, but will the increase in the number of jobs available depress wages paid to new employees? Not necessarily! Even though there is a lot of jobs, each position is very competitive. So, what can you expect to earn in some of the more popular positions?

Budtender Average Wage

If you are new to the industry, this is possibly the best entry level job. You can expect to earn anything from $30k to $40k. Many people see the Budtender position as a way to earn valuable experience to take forward to a better paid position in the future. The job itself has a large amount of customer service, so you will need to be comfortable speaking to others and communicating the different effects of strains to your customers.

Cannabis Grower Average Wage

If you have the necessary skills and experience to grow cannabis, it can be quite lucrative. On average, you can expect to earn upwards of $50k per year. Of course, this will depend on where you conduct your grow, as different states have different laws which will affect how much you can earn. The best states to grow cannabis in are California, Michigan, Arizona and Colorado.

Dispensary Manager Average Wage

Every dispensary requires a Dispensary Manager to operate the dispensary. The manager will be quite an experienced dispensary worker, so the average wage for this position is expected to be from $60k upwards. You will likely find that the clear majority of Dispensary Managers are recruited from within the existing staff, as they have the most knowledge about how the dispensary operates.

Cannabis Edibles Chef Average Wage

There has been a growing trend of regular chefs becoming cannabis edible chefs. This is a new and exciting position, which has become more widespread due to the increase in popularity of edibles. A chef can expect to earn upwards of $50k. Of course, this will depend on your reputation. You can even expect a six-figure wage if you have years of experience and are employed by one of the top cannabis companies.
