State Bank of India, the leading nationalised Bank, has issued a notification for filling up of nation-wide vacancies of 5082 Clerical posts, in which the share for Andhra Pradesh State is 208.  Candidates, who passed Degree examination and those, who are in the final year of their Degree are eligible to apply for SBI Assistant jobs in Clerical Cadre. Let us examine how this golden opportunity can best be used.

Acceptance of applications thorough on-line for SBI Clerical (Assistant) posts has started from 26th May onwards. Last date for submission of application is 14th June 2014.  Even though the date of the examination is not yet notified, indications are there that they may be conducted in July/ August months.

Compared to the number of vacancies announced for other States, the allotment SBI Assistant posts to A.P State is comparatively less. A candidate can only apply for the post in only one State and he necessarily should attend the test at a centre in that State only. As far as this ‘Recruitment Project' is concerned, a candidate can appear for the test only once in this round. Information on SBI is available in State Bank of India website as well as in Wikipedia weblink - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Bank_of_India

While the present scales of pay are attractive in State Bank of India, revision of pay scales is presently under consideration of the Government. It means that the pay packet would be still more attractive with the upward revision of scales of pay.

How to prepare for SBI Clerical Exam?

Candidates, who are preparing to appear for the ensuing SBI PO's test, need not put any additional efforts for the test for Clerk's recruitment. Even though it is Clerical cadres, the standard of the test will of IBPS PO level and therefore, it should be undermined in the preparation efforts. Especially in Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude subjects, the standard of questions will be not less than to that of the PO standard.

It is a great opportunity to the candidates to score more marks with less effort in English, General Awareness, Computer and Marketing Aptitude parts of the paper, which are given weightage equal to other parts (40 marks) of the paper.

The SBI Mode of Selection will be in two stages: 1. Online Objective test and 2. Interview.

Quantitative Aptitude

Marketing Aptitude/ Computer Knowledge

Unlike in SBI PO, Quantitative Aptitude questions will be of IBPS PO standard and as such more topics need to be covered in the preparation.

In case of Reasoning also, more time consuming and high standard questions may be put in Common sense Reasoning (Basic Reasoning).

For ‘General Awareness', magazines like ‘Banking Services Chronicle' should be followed. Financial matters published in the New Papers should be regularly followed and studied.

In case of General English, good preparation in Grammar, Vocabulary, and Comprehension (GVC) is necessary.

Computer Basics and Marketing Updates are the key areas in this section.

SBI Clerical (Assistants) Cadre Interview …

Selection and interview of State Bank of India for Assistants Posts will be in the ration 1 : 3 and hence care should be taken in facing the interview. It is necessary that one should secure the prescribed minimum qualifying marks in the interview. Candidates facing the interview should be alert and active; should have self-confidence and possess individuality. Remember, it is a test for your individual identity.  While answering the questions, exhibit your interests and positive outlook with clarity. Note that most important of all is that it is a test to assess your value-based individuality rather than your subject knowledge.
