IIM Calcutta introduces Finance Lecture series:
with a lecture by world?renowned accounting theorist and experimental economist on March 2, 2012
IIM Calcutta campus, Kolkata, February 23, 2012: As a part of Finance Lecture Series? an initiative of the Financial Research and Trading Laboratory at IIM Calcutta, on March 2, 2012 at 11 AM the world?renowned accounting theorist and experimental economist,. Prof. Shyam Sunder, James L. Frank Professor of Accounting, Economics and Finance, Yale School of Management will speak on "Financing of a Public Good by Taxation in a General Equilibrium Economy: Theory and Experimental Evidence.". The talk will be held in the Financial Research and Trading Laboratory of IIM Calcutta. Professor Ashok Banerjee, Professor of Finance and Control and the coordinator of Financial Research & Trading Laboratory would introduce the speaker.

  • Objective of Finance Lecture Series:

The primary objective of the lecture series is to listen to and interact with the best academic minds in the area of corporate finance, corporate finance and financial markets. The invites speaker will share his/her latest research and also highlight major research challenges.

  • Brief Profile of Prof. Shyam Sunder:

Dr. Shyam Sunder is the James L. Frank Professor of Accounting, Economics, and Finance at the Yale School of Management; Professor in the Department of Economics; and Fellow of the Whitney Humanities Center. He is a pioneer in the fields of experimental finance and experimental macroeconomics. His research contributions include financial reporting, dissemination of information in security markets, statistical theory of valuation, and design of electronic markets. Dr. Sunder has won many awards for his research that includes six books and more than 180 articles in the leading journals of accounting, economics and finance, as well as in popular media. Dr. Sunder's current research includes the problem of structuring U.S. and international accounting and auditing institutions to obtain a judicious and efficient balance between regulatory oversight and market competition. He is a past president of the American Accounting Association, former director of the Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at Yale, and distinguished fellow of the Center for Study of Science and Technology Policy in Bengaluru.
