"Shoes are the most important. Good shoes take you good places.”

― Seo Min Hyun

Shoes speak volumes and give a deep insight into your personality. Below are a few tips on choosing, caring and wearing the right shoe.

Avancé Tip:

1. Perfect fit:
• Check your shoe size every time you venture to buy shoes. Not all brands have the same sizing
• Nothing is more important than the right size. If your shoes make you uncomfortable – it will show! Pink toes, uneasy walk, feet popping out do not make a pleasant sight
• Carry socks or pantyhose that you plan to wear with the shoe your buying to get the perfect fit
• After you wear the shoe, you should be able to place your index finger between your foot and the heel of the shoe. Or else they are too tight and vice versa.

2. Make

The material of your shoes is equally important. Consider the weather, lifestyle and occasion before you select the material

3. Formal Shoes

Formal shoes need to be polished and in good condition at all times – they communicate a lot. Do pay special attention to the heel

4. Plan your purchases

Do not get carried away by discounts and sales. Do not buy on impulse.

5. Shoe Care

Shoes should be cleaned and preferably stored in the shoe bag after every use

6. Women:
• Fashion trends
a. Nudes and other neutral colors continue to dominate
b. Color blocking on shoes
c. Stylish winter boots in suede provide the required warmth with elegance
d. Androgynous trend of oxfords and loafers continue for the women. They pack in comfort and style together.
• Choose the shoe as per your lifestyle: if you have long standing hours for instance, pick up brogues, loafers or ballerinas leaving the stilettos for a fancy dinner or party.
• Pretty feet – If you are wearing the latest peep toes or open sandals, make sure your feet are well pedicure and moisturized. Your shoes are bound to attract attention.
• For women who are not comfortable with high heels, begin with kitten heels, wedges or platforms.

7. Men:
• Invest in classic styles: black or brown leather shoes.
• Do not wear your formal shoes for casual occasions and vice versa. Invest in good quality formal, semi casual (eg: loafers) and casuals shoes (eg: converse). Bulky sport shoes are better left out for the gym and other sporting activities.
